Best Time to Visit the Sahara Desert

The Sahara is a year-round destination, but the most comfortable months for camel treks and desert camps are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when daytime temperatures are warm rather than extreme and nights are cool but manageable.

Summer (June–August) can bring daytime temperatures well above 40°C in Merzouga and Zagora — still doable early morning and evening, but plan for heat during the day.

Winter (December–February) has pleasant daytime temperatures but desert nights can drop close to freezing, so a warm layer for the evening at camp is essential.
